Steven Kron, the former head of Dunhill cigars, has joined Nadir y Bohue Pte. Ltd. (NyB Cigars) as the company’s international sales director.
NyB Cigars has its own cigars under the Nicarao, La Ley and Furia names, all of which are made by A.J. Fernández. The company is also the international distributor of A.J. Fernández Cigars with distribution in 18 European and Asian countries and plans for five additional countries in the coming months.
Kron worked at British American Tobacco (BAT), which owned the rights to the Dunhill brand. In January, BAT announced that it would be shutting down the Dunhill brand of pipes and cigars.
“I am truly excited to be back in the forefront of the cigar business and looking forward to the challenge that awaits me in growing the sales of the NyB portfolio and working with their dedicated and professional distributors,” said Kron in a press release.
NyB Cigars was founded by Didier Houvenaghel, a Belgian agricultural engineer and author who studied at the Universidad de Pinar del Río in Cuba. In 2001, he started his own line of cigars and published a book about cigars, Cigar From Soil To Soul, in 2005.
“In this fast moving world, Mr. Kron shows an inspiring knowledge and in-depth understanding of the cigar industry,” said Houvenaghel. “He has married an enthusiasm for a product that requires sensitivity, passion, and dedication with a solid understanding of the technical and evolving legislative aspects of the industry. Mr. Kron will be the bridge between the production and the sales ensuring that the important partnership with our beloved distributors is cared for.”
