The third release in Southern Draw Cigars’ “Ignite Some Good” series is heading to Cigars International next month.

For this release, the company is releasing a new sizes for its Kudzu and Firethorn lines, a 5 x 58 perfecto. The cigars will come packaged in 10-count jars with both white and black color options available, each priced at $99.99. There are 250 jars being made in each variant, for a total of 1,000 jars and 10,000 cigars.

For each jar sold, Cigars International and Southern Draw Cigars are donating a total of $7.50 per jar to Operation Cigars for Warriors.

“We are pleased to release an exclusive new size in both of our original blends, said Southern Draw Cigars Founder, Robert Holt. “While there are no significant changes to the original blends, the new perfectos are likely to excite the palates of those new to our brand that most likely have been smoking the 2017 releases, Jacobs Ladder and Rose of Sharon blends and the loyal consumers who have smoked these flavorful and award-winning blends since 2014.”

The Southern Draw Kudzu uses an Ecuadorian habano oscuro wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder from Ometepe and a filler blend from Nicaragua, while the Firethorn uses an Ecuadorian habano rosado wrapper over a Mexican binder and Nicaraguan fillers. Both lines are made at Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua S.A. Both of the new vitolas will also get new secondary bands for this release.

Both cigars will get a formal release on June 15, although customers of the Hamburg, Pa. location can get a sneak peek at them on June 5 during an in-store event with Holt.

“Cigars International is incredibly excited to team up with Southern Draw Cigars on these two new, exciting, and delicious projects for CI nation, said Jeffrey Kocher, chief merchant of Cigars International via a press release. “Any opportunity we receive to help out our troops is one we’ll jump on without any hesitation, so when Robert Holt approached us with his idea for Ignite, we knew we wanted to be a part of it immediately,” he added.

The Ignite line debuted on April 14 with the Jacob’s Ladder Lancero during the Texas Cigar Festival as part of a collaboration with Serious Cigars and Casa de Montecristo. The second cigar, the Rose of Sharon Perfecto, was released in May, going to Famous Smoke Shop & Leaf Cigar Bar in Easton, Pa.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
