Southern Draw Announces Hyacinth, Pennyroyal and Crocus as IGNITE 2022 Releases

Southern Draw Cigars has announced a trio of new cigars that will be released next week as part of the next two installments of the company’s IGNITE charitable program.

First up is the Hyacinth, a 6 1/2 x 46 lonsdale that features an alternate blend variation of the company’s Peccadilloes Hyacinth. That means a Connecticut-grown wrapper, a Nicaragua habano binder, and fillers from Nicaragua.

Next is the Pennyroyal, a 6 1/8 x 52 piramides vitola that uses a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper, a habano hybrid binder from Nicaragua, and a filler that is half Nicaraguan-grown leaves, a quarter Honduran-grown, and the remaining 25 percent broadleaf ligero grown in the U.S.

The two cigars are being paired together in a DRAWpak sampler, with three Hyacinths and two Pennyroyals per pack that will be sold for $39.99. A total of 10,000 sampler packs have been produced, with a general release of 2,500 samplers per quarter. A portion of the proceeds of the sales of these samplers will benefit Warriors on the Fly, a non-profit organization the serves combat veterans of the special forces community that have been diagnosed with mental health conditions. Specifically, they support such individuals by participating in the sport of fly fishing to complement their journey towards rehabilitation.

The third cigar is the Crocus, a 7 x 50 Churchill that is variation on the company’s Ladykiller, which was released in August 2021 to the Limited Cigar Association. The cigar features a dark Ecuadorian habano wrapper, a Nicaraguan corojo hybrid wrapper, and a filler described as having Nicaraguan criollo 98 and ligero.

The Crocus will also be released via five-count DRAWpaks, though each pack will only contain the Crocus. A total of 10,000 samplers is being produced for this release as well, with pricing also set at $39.99.

This release will support the United States Border Patrol Fallen Officers Scholarship Fund, which provide scholarships to the children of border patrol agents who have died in the line of duty.

“Since our inception in 2003 we have provided numerous students with the opportunity to continue to college or vocational training,” said Kyle Krall, Supervisory Border Patrol Agent (Retired) and founder of the U.S. Border Patrol Fallen Officers Scholarship Fund. Krall is also working with Southern Draw as the manager of the company’s new swag store.

All of the cigars are made by Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua.
