A modification to the Illinois state law regarding smoking could have big changes for those who enjoy smoking at patios of bars and restaurants. A new proposal would ban smoking within 15 feet of all doors, windows and venilliation areas.

The change would expand the smoking laws that already regulate the indoors of these areas and could have a drastic effect on smaller patios.

Two years ago, similar changes were proposed, but ultimately scrapped. A panel of the state’s General Assembly is expected to review the proposal within the next two months.
