Selim Hanono is now the chief operating officer at E.P. Carrillo.

The longtime industry veteran, best known for his nearly-decade-long tenure at Drew Estate, began working for the Dominican company earlier this year.

“Ernesto, the Carrillo family and I have been friends for many years,” said Hanono in a message to halfwheel. “I’ve always had an incredible amount of respect and admiration for Ernesto and what he’s accomplished. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity for us now to be colleagues. I am looking forward to being a part of an incredible team and this company’s bright future. “

Hanono started his career at cigar retail in Miami before working for Caribe Imports, the former owner of Camacho. He eventually moved on to Drew Estate where he worked in a variety of roles for the company including overseeing its trade show and other large events, managing an in-house sales team and assisting the company’s international operations. In December 2017, he became the coo at A.J. Fernández, a stint that lasted a single year.

I am an editor and co-founder of halfwheel.com/Rueda Media, LLC. I previously co-founded and published TheCigarFeed, one of the two predecessors of halfwheel. I have written about the cigar industry for more than a decade, covering everything from product launches to regulation to M&A. In addition, I handle a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff here at halfwheel. I enjoy playing tennis, watching boxing, falling asleep to the Le Mans 24, wearing sweatshirts year-round and eating gyros. echte liebe.
