Selected Tobacco—the company behind the Atabey, Bandolero and Byron lines—will be adding a new line this summer named after the company’s founder, Nelson Alfonso. While most of the details about the line are not known, it will go on sale next month as part of a special humidor made for Ambassador Fine Cigars of Scottsdale, Ariz.

The company is releasing a limited edition humidor to celebrate the retailer’s 25th anniversary. Inside the humidor are four different cigars, a different cigar from each of Selected Tobacco’s lines including the upcoming Alfonso. A total of 40 cigars are included, 10 of each line:

  • Alfonso No. 3 (6 x 54)
  • Atabey Ritos (6 1/8 x 55)
  • Bandolero Colosales “Extra Aged Edition” (6 x 54)
  • Byron Distinguidos (6 x 55)

A press release describing the humidor says the Alfonso line “will be exclusively available through the purchase of the humidors with plans to release more vitolas this summer to Preferred United Cigar Retailers.” Beyond that, no details are listed about blend, other sizes or pricing.

United Cigars, which distributes Selected Tobacco in the U.S., did not reply to an email asking questions about the Alfonso cigar and some of the details about the humidor, including its price.

What is known is that Ambassador will receive 200 numbered humidors which are lined with French white oak. Each humidor includes a hygrometer, thermometer, four humidifiers, a tray and there is also a bottom drawer.

“Even amid a renaissance in the cigar industry, Selected Tobacco cigars stand out,” said Vartan Seferian, owner of Ambassador Fine Cigars, in a press release. The magic that Nelson Alfonso crafts, delivers a phenomenal experience with every puff. I’m honored that he created something special for the 25th Anniversary. As I always say, these cigars come with a warning: Careful, you might get used to them.”

Nelson Alfonso will be at Ambassador Fine Cigars for events on June 10 and 11 to launch the humidors.
