If you wanted to know what would happen if you replaced the spring-loaded action found in some cigar cutters with magnets, Screwpop will have an answer.

Screwpop, best known for its eponymous keychain tool, has created a cigar cutter that uses rare earth magnets. It’s called the Magpulse, a guillotine-style cutter that has neodymium magnets on the outside of the cutter that function when both opening and closing the cutter.

With the press of the trigger, the magnets push the blades of the cutter open, and they then assist the cutting process by creating a steady force against the cutting action to help provide a smoother cut.

A lot of the details are still unannounced—including both price and date—but Screwpop says the cutter is milled from 6061-T6 aluminum, while the blades are 420J2 stainless steel.
