Sans Pareil has begun shipping three lancero vitolas in its Blue, Red and Purple line as part of a limited edition release called the Sans Pareil Lancero Collection.

Each of the three blends are getting a 7 1/2 x 38 vitola priced at $40, and each is limited to just 1,525 cigars, as Aaron Saide told halfwheel that after cutting down the gram variance and going through multiple sortings, that’s all he was able to release. That means there are only 61 complete sets being shipped out to retailers, priced at $3,000 per box, as each box contains 25 of each blend.

Saide that said because of the thickness of the wood, he had each box pre-seasoned just like a humidor prior to packing, and then added Boveda packs in the two slots to ensure optimum humidity during shipping.

While the blends remain the same, each has been modified slightly to accommodate the smaller ring gauge of the lancero vitola. The Sans Pareil Blue is a Dominican puro with a criollo wrapper, the Purple uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a Dominican binder and filler, while the Red uses an Ecuadorian corojo wrapper over a Dominican binder and filler. Saide noted that because of the fragility of some of the filler leaves, he went so far as to purchase all new knives for the bunchers and rollers to use to minimize damage to the tobacco.

The set was shown off at the 2018 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show. The line is produced at Tabacalera Palma in the Dominican Republic.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
