S.T.Dupont’s classic Ligne 2 lighter will be getting dressed in one of its more futuristic designs later this year.
The French accessory company is adding a trio of matte carbon camouflage designs to the iconic soft flame lighter. The S.T.Dupont Ligne 2 Matte Black & Carbon lighters have a PVD matte black finish with a diamond head design on the flip-up lid and a colored camouflage-inspired design on the body.
Each of the three colors—black, red and white—will have an MSRP of $1,695 per lighter. They are expected to ship alongside a similarly-styled double guillotine cutter ($550) in October according to Coles of London, S.T.Dupont’s U.S. distributor.
The Ligne 2 lighter is the flagship lighter from S.T.Dupont. It features two flame nozzles allowing it to create a wider flame. To use the lighter, the user opens the flip-top lid—creating a signature pinging sound—and then flicks the roller wheel to the left using their right thumb. This turns the flint and lights the dual flames. The lighters are made by S.T.Dupont in France.
While S.T.Dupont has introduced hundreds, if not thousands, of different versions of its Ligne 2 lighter, it has rarely used either a matte finish or a theme that is the dark. That said, S.T.Dupont has created at least one lighter with a more sinister design. In 2015, it worked with Leica to create a series of accessories to celebrate the camera company’s legendary Noctilux line of lenses. As part of that collection a matte Ligne 2 lighter was created featuring a vertical knurled lines.
Coles of London will show off the S.T.Dupont Ligne 2 Matte Black & Carbon lighters to retailers at this week’s PCA Convention & Trade Show, which takes place July 9-12 in Las Vegas.
