The second Weaselfest event will take place Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022 in Austin, Texas.

RoMa Craft Tobac hosted the first WeaselFest event last year, a postponed celebration of the company’s 10th anniversary. Many of the details are the same as last year’s event, though it will be hosted at Fair Market, an event space in Austin. It’s an abnormally long cigar event that will take place from 3-10 p.m. with three different musical acts, three different alcohol suppliers and barbecue from one of Austin’s most highly-regarded barbecue restaurants.

There will also be cigars, specifically specially-branded versions of the El Catador de Las Gran Coronas. There are 500 Weaselfest branded samplers for the event, which include 16 cigars, all of which are in the 5 3/4 x 46 vitola the company calls “gran corona.”

Inside each sampler are two of the following:

In addition, Skip Martin—co-founder of RoMa Craft Tobac—told halfwheel that the company is planning on selling backstock of old limited editions and small quantities of its European exclusive cigars like Wunder|Lust. Ticketholders will be able to purchase those cigars during the event on Sunday.

Tickets are on sale through Eventbrite. A standard ticket is priced at $250 plus taxes and fees and includes a WeaselPack containing five cigars, two spirits tickets, one beer ticket and one meal ticket for barbecue from Stile’s Switch BBQ.

There is also a $150 “music ticket” which includes entry to the event and the ability to buy food and alcoholic beverages.

The $500 VIP tickets, which are sold out, give access to VIP events on Saturday. Specifically, there will be a shooting range day with Staccato, a high-end handgun manufacturer, and dinner at Bob’s Chop House.

If the event is anything like most RoMa Craft Tobac-hosted parties, the drink tickets will likely become irrelevant at a certain point of the evening as RoMa Craft is known for “buying out the bar” once the sun goes down.

The three musical acts are Mexstep, Rock Star DJ D-Money and Scarface & The Formaldehyde Funk Band. For the latter, this could be one of the final live rap shows as Scarface has announced his Farewell Tour, which concludes this summer.

While halfwheel is not known for its event coverage, here’s how I described last year’s event:

As someone that went to the event, I’m not really sure how to describe it, but it was very impressive. It was more of a block party with no budget than a cigar event, but it was something, as RoMa Craft Tobac went all out and then some. As noted below, RoMa Craft made sure those who wanted to show up were taken care of, and the pre-event Weasel packs were just the start. The food, drinks and music were better than just about any cigar event I’ve been to, outside of ones hosted at Michelin-star restaurants. Unlike most events, RoMa Tobac seemed pretty uninterested in selling anything and was instead focused on making sure people had a good time. Quite frankly, even if you aren’t a RoMa Craft Tobac superfan, this probably would have been a lot of fun. The price of admission is more than most events, but the return on that investment was substantially more. I’m not sure if RoMa Craft Tobac has plans for more events, but if it does, I’d recommend going at least once.

Update (Aug. 19, 2022) — Clarified something regarding the music ticket.
