There might be three new Neanderthal vitolas, just not for the U.S.

Earlier today, Skip Martin, co-owner of RoMa Craft Tobac, posted a picture showing three new sizes for the line with corresponding sizes.

  • JCF – Johann_Carl_Fuhlrott 5 1/4 x 50
  • KFG – Kleine Feldhofer Grotte 4 3/4 x 56
  • HS – Hermann Schaaffhausen 5 3/4 x 46

The three names are important to the study of neanderthals. Johann Carl Fuhlrot and Hermann Schaaffhausen helped identify Neanderthal 1, a 40,000-year-old fossil, found by workers in the Kleine Feldhofer Grotte cave.

Not only are the names German, but it seems likely that’s where the cigars are heading. In a post earlier this month, showing a Neanderthal prototype, Martin indicated the cigars would not be sent to the U.S. unless there were changes made to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) restrictions regarding premium cigars. Martin confirmed to halfwheel that the cigars would not go to the U.S. unless there are changes with FDA.
