Attendees of this year’s Big Damn Jamboree & Wingding will be able to try an interesting take on RoMa Craft Tobac’s Neanderthal, genetic deformity.

Neanderthal GD

The Neanderthal GD is essentially a Neanderthal SGP, a 4 1/4 x 52 petite robusto, in barberpole form. Instead of a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, the company is using the cover leaves from its CroMagnon and Aquitaine lines: Connecticut broadleaf and Ecuadorian habano.

It’s part of the newest El Catador sampler from RoMa Craft Tobac: El Catador de los Petite Robustos. Inside each 10-count box will be two Neanderthal GDs, as well as the petit robustos representative from the company’s other four lines: Aquitaine Knuckle Dragger (4 x 52), CroMagnon Knuckle Dragger (4 x 52), Intemperance BA XXI The Avarice (4 1/2 x 52) and Intemperance EC XVIII The Virtue (4 1/2 x 52). Each of the other four sizes are regular production items.

This is the first time the El Catador sampler has included different sizes.

Neanderthal SGP was released earlier this year as an exclusive to Riverside Cigar Shop and Lounge of Jeffersonville, Ind. and Serious Cigars of Houston, Texas.

The samplers are priced at $72 and will be available at the Big Damn Jamboree & Wingding, an annual event hosted by Houston-based retailer STOGIES World Class Cigars, which takes place on Oct. 24. Tickets for the event can be purchased here.

A total of 325 samplers are being produced, there’s a chance that a small number of samplers could be offered to other retailers, but STOGIES has already committed to 200 samplers and has access to the remaining 125.

This is the fifth El Catador sampler from RoMa Craft following the El Catador de Los PerfectosEl Catador de Las PanetelasEl Catador de Los Gran Robusto and El Catador de las Petite Coronas.

Neanderthal GD will be the fourth size for the line, which formally debuted earlier this year, and one of two new extensions the Houston store is associated with. The Neanderthal OM, a lancero version of the line, is expected to become an exclusive for STOGIES next year.

Update — Added correct dimensions for all sizes in the samplers.

Update (Oct. 9, 2015) — Added box pics.
