RoMa Craft Tobac has postponed its 10th anniversary party, originally scheduled for Sept. 5, 2020 in Austin.
Instead, the company plans on holding the event next spring—specifically, Memorial Day weekend—in 2021. That would mean the event is likely to take place on May 29, 2021.
The company sent an email to ticketholders explaining that it is currently unclear if it would be able to legally hold the event and as such it has decided not to hold the event in 2020:
Due to a recent surge of coronavirus cases in the region, the City of Austin and Travis County has issued a standing order that prohibits all events and community gatherings of more than 10 people outside of a non-religious facility. Though the order expires on August 15, it is expected to announce at that time all events and community gatherings of more than 100 people will be prohibited. As of the date of this announcement the City of Austin has not issued, and is not expected to issue, permits for the September 5th event due to these orders.
RoMa Craft Tobac is giving ticket holders three options going forward:
- Reserve 2021 Tickets — Keep your same ticket in 2021, there will also be a second WeaselPack gift set.
- Exchange Tickets for El Catador de Los Gran Perfecto Samplers — Ticketholders could get two samplers in exchange for their ticket, there will also be a second WeaselPack gift set.
- Partial refund — $200 per ticket. (General admission tickets were $250.)
When tickets went on sale the company indicated that part of the ticket would be non-refundable, even if the event was postponed or canceled. The non-refundable portion is being used to help support the local artists and vendors.
RoMa Craft Tobac has already shipped the El Catador de Los Gran Perfectos 10 Años, a sampler of each of the company’s blends in a 5 5/8 x 60 perfecto size. The eight-count sampler was priced at $120 per box. The only way to purchase the samplers was to purchase a ticket for the event.
The 2021 dates have not been finalized. RoMa Craft Tobac said it needs to work with the vendors and musicians who were scheduled to be at WeaselFest before confirming the 2021 date.
