The Rocky Patel Olde World lines are now exclusives to Phillips & King, a Ventura, Calif.-based tobacco distributor. For consumers, little will change, but retailers that wish to carry the cigars will now need to order the lines from Phillips & King instead of ordering directly from Rocky Patel Premium Cigars, Inc.
This includes both the Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve Corojo and Maduro, each of which is offered in three sizes. The Corojo uses a Honduran corojo wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers. It is made at El Paraiso in Danlí, Honduras. The Maduro uses a costa Rican wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Costa Rica and Nicaragua; it is made at Tabacalera Villa Cuba S.A. (TAVICUSA) in Estelí, Nicaragua.
Both cigars are offered in the same three sizes:
- Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve Robusto (5 1/2 x 54)
- Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve Toro (6 1/2 x 52)
- Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve Sixty (6 x 60)
“Rocky Patel’s Olde World Reserve is an iconic cigar that every premium tobacconist should have in stock,” said Jason Carignan, president of Phillips & King, in a press release. “And the royal treatment from Phillips & King is ideal for its grand re-entry to the market. We are excited to partner with the great minds and industry veterans at Rocky Patel, and are even more excited to get these cigars into the hands of our retail customers. The smokes are beautifully nuanced, and truly incomparable. We see great success ahead for both of our brands.”
Rocky Patel Premium Cigars, Inc. had been selling the Olde World lines up until the 2022 PCA Convention & Trade Show in July. Interestingly, this is not the first time that the Olde World line has been a distributor exclusive. From 2012-2018, the line was an exclusive to Thompson Cigar.
