A new cigar project between Rocky Patel and hockey legend Bernie Parent is slated to debut next week, as Parent posted the following news via his blog on December 3:
I am proud to announce the production and distribution of the new BSB #1 Bernie Parent cigar, exclusively prepared by Rocky Patel. Being a cigar enthusiast, I am delighted and honored to have built a relationship with Rocky Patel and company, and to be a part of this process every step of the way.
The post says that the cigar was blended by Nish Patel, is medium to full bodied and uses an Ecuadorian Havana seed wrapper. The company is producing 500 boxes of the cigar for the initial run, with a black and orange color scheme to match the colors of the Philadelphia Flyers, the team for which he played the majority of his career. The bands on the cigar are said to be in the shape of goalie pads. The name ‘BSB’ refers to ‘Broad Street Bullies,’ a nickname that the Flyers were known by in the early to mid 1970s during Parent’s time with them.
Parent played in the NHL from 1965-1979 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1984. He was a two-time Vezina Trophy winner for best goaltender, two-time Conn Smythe Trophy winner as MVP of the Stanley Cup playoffs, and a five-time NHL all-star.
According to a Rocky Patel Cigar Co. spokesman, the cigars have not arrived at their Florida warehouse, but are expected to be in soon, at which time they will be made available to retailers. Parent is slated to be at an event in Newtown Township, PA on Dec. 10 that will feature the cigars. Price information was not immediately available.
Patel recently launched a cigar project with former Major League Baseball player Gary Sheffield, called the Rocky Patel HR 500.
