Rob Norris, the head of Altadis U.S.A., is leaving the company to join Fontem Ventures, an e-cigarette company best known for its blu brand.

Both Altadis U.S.A. and Fontem Ventures are part of Imperial Brands, plc. Norris will join the company as the general manager of Canada for Fontem Ventures. He will make the transition on Aug. 1.

“Given his tenure here, the move to Canada is an important next step for Rob’s professional career,” said Javier Estades, head of Tabacalera USA, the parent company of Altadis U.S.A., in a press release.

Norris joined Altadis U.S.A. in 2011 as the sales and trade marketing director. He was then promoted to the head of JR Cigar and then promoted to his current role in 2017. He has been at Imperial Brands, plc for over two decades.

Altadis U.S.A. has announced that Paul Waller, head of sales, and Oliver Hyams, head of trade marketing, will report directly to Estades.

A replacement for Norris has not been announced.

I am an editor and co-founder of halfwheel.com/Rueda Media, LLC. I previously co-founded and published TheCigarFeed, one of the two predecessors of halfwheel. I have written about the cigar industry for more than a decade, covering everything from product launches to regulation to M&A. In addition, I handle a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff here at halfwheel. I enjoy playing tennis, watching boxing, falling asleep to the Le Mans 24, wearing sweatshirts year-round and eating gyros. echte liebe.
