Rob Gagner, the face of Boveda’s Box Press podcast, is leaving the company.
Today, May 24, marks Gagner’s last day at the company after more than seven years. Gagner told halfwheel that he was informed that his position, Boveda’s marketing and content manager for tobacco, was eliminated.
Boveda makes two-way humidification packs that are a popular choice for humidification in cigar humidors. The company also has a large presence in the marijuana industry and also markets its packs for use to help protect wooden musical instruments.
“With seven years of dedicated service at Boveda Inc., I have had the privilege of growing both personally and professionally within the premium cigar industry,” said Gagner in a statement to halfwheel. “Now, equipped with a wealth of experience, a deep passion for the premium cigar industry, and a fair and grateful severance package, I am ready to embark on the next chapter of my career. I eagerly seek new opportunities where I can contribute my expertise, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the excellence that defines the premium cigar experience.”
Gagner started in Boveda’s customer service department before transitioning to sales and later to marketing, where he became the host of Boveda’s Box Press podcast, which saw Gagner interview various cigar company personas, review cigar club subscription services and even tour cigar company offices, including a visit to halfwheel’s old office.
Boveda says it still has some previously-filmed but unreleased episodes of Box Press that will be released in the future, meaning that, for now, the podcast will continue.
When asked about whether there were more staff changes beyond Gagner, the company declined to comment, saying that it does not comment on personnel departures, though it did say, “we are grateful for Rob’s contribution and wish him the best.”
For his part, Gagner is interested in continuing to work in the premium cigar industry and stressed that he leaves the company on good terms.
“Even with the changes in my career, my unwavering loyalty to Boveda and confidence in their humidity control solutions remain steadfast,” said Gagner. “In my personal humidor, Boveda remains the sole choice, assuring the perfect conditions for my cherished cigars.”
