Less than a year after being promoted to director of operations, Enrique “Ricky” Somoza has resigned at A.J. Fernández Cigars.

Somoza has been with the company since 2013 first serving as production manager. In January, he was promoted to director of operations to help oversee the company’s new U.S. distribution company.

“I thank AJ for the opportunities he has afforded me and for the trip of a lifetime,” said Somoza in a statement to halfwheel. “He is the future of tobacco and I expect many great things from him in the future.”
