Tor Imports Ltd. has announced that Ricardo Carioni, its coo, will be stepping down from his position after the PCA Convention & Trade Show in July.

“Ricardo has been instrumental in building and developing strong relationships within the trade, acting as a lively ambassador for new world cigars in the UK,” said Scott Vines, managing director of Tor Imports Ltd., via a press release. “His charismatic influence and relentless dedication have contributed significantly to the growth and expansion of our portfolio. I’m thankful for his friendship, his contributions and excited about both of our futures.”

Among his contributions to the company, Carioni, pictured above right, has helped position Tor Imports to handle legislative changes, implementing track and trace measures that will come into action in 2024.

“Working with and learning from Scott and the rest of my Tor family has genuinely been one of my career’s greatest highlights and privileges,” said Carioni in a press release. “I consider Tor as one of the finest institutions of the cigar world, an extraordinary source of knowledge and experience with an exciting present and future. I’ll always be deeply grateful for Scott’s mentorship. Our profound personal friendship and professional relationship will only keep strengthening and growing over the weeks, months, and years to come.”

Carioni has not yet specified what is next for him, though the announcement from Tor Imports Ltd. said that his next ventures will take him away from British soil.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
