Reinado’s two newest cigars, the Grand Apex 6 x 60 and the C29, are set to make their debut this coming week, as they will be released on Thursday, Aug. 18 at Mane Street Cigars & Lounge in Woodbridge, N.J.

Both cigars have been on the radar for some time now; in December 2021, Antonio Lam announced that he would be adding a 6 x 60 to his Grand Apex line, and at the time said it would be released in February. Those plans got pushed back to June and then pushed back again over the summer to a still as-yet unspecified release date.

The Reinado Gran Apex debuted in August 2021 in a 5 1/2 x 52 robusto vitola, and uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers. The line is made at AGANORSA’s Agricola Ganadera Norteña S.A. factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, and was the first cigar that Lam released upon his return to the cigar industry after having to step away to care for his father, who was battling dementia.

“My father always taught me to excel at whatever I chose to do, work hard and never give up,” said Lam when the line was first announced, adding that “although my father will not know it, we will make the climb just as he did to make him proud.” The company donates a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the Grand Apex to the Dementia Society of America to help find a cure for the illness.

The Reinado C29 is a new regular production line that was announced in mid-May and uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over an undisclosed binder and filler. It comes in a 5 x 52 robusto vitola that has an MSRP of $10 and is offered in paper-wrapped five-packs. Lam is not disclosing where the C29 is being made.

“We are extremely excited about adding the C29 to the Reinado portfolio as it uses tobaccos that we have never used before and feel they are delivering a very unique flavor profile and experience when undergoing the blending process I put them through,” said Lam when the C29 was announced.

Lam said that he will be doing soft releases for the C29 at events in the near future, with a formal release tentatively set for about two months from now, which would have it in stores in mid to late October. Reinado is distributed by SZ Wholesale.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
