Quality Importers Begins Shipping Updated Palió Cutter

Palió is back.

Last month, Quality Importers began to once again offer the Palió cutter, only this one is the updated model. Last September, the distributor acquired Palió, the company best known for its fixed-blade guillotine cigar cutter. Since then, the company has been working on finding a new factory for producing the cutter, as well as working on new designs.

Paliós were previously made in the U.S., something that not only increased the costs, but added numerous production difficulties. Before being acquired, Palió spent years trying to develop a metal version of its cutter, something that still has not made it to market. Now, Quality Importers has moved production to China in hopes of more flexibility, faster fulfillment and ultimately, a better product.

Michael Giordano, president of Quality Importers, told halfwheel the company has largely left the cutter alone. The one major change was a solution to a problem that led to the blades catching one another and cracking.

In addition, there’s a lot of new finishes. Four original finishes are back: the base Black Matte version will be priced at $44.99, while the Burl Wood, Camouflage Vista and Carbon Fiber have a suggested retail price of $59.99.

Between those two models are the new glossy color versions of Palió, priced at $49.99. A total of eight new colors have been made: Alpine White, Black, Blaze Orange, Phoenix Red, Polo Green, Royal Blue, Sahara Brown and Tuscan Sun Yellow.

The gift box the cutter is sold in has also been updated.

There are more plans for Palió. Giordano has previously stated that he was looking at metal versions of the cutter, larger ring gauge models and branded versions of the Palió, the latter of which is on the horizon.
