A new Edición Regional will be on the shelves of La Casa del Habano shops in Germany next week, as the distributor 5ta Avenida has announced the upcoming release of the Punch Preferidos Edición 5ta Avenida.

The 2018 Edición Regional release comes in a Montesco vitola, a 5 1/8 (130mm) x 55 ring gauge robusto that debuted in 2010 with the release of the Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchills. It has since been used in a number of other Edición Regional releases, as well as the Hoyo de Monterrey Grand Epicure Edición Limitada 2013 and the yet-to-be-released Montecristo Supremos Edición Limitada 2019. The vitola was also selected for the Hoyo de Monterrey Wide Churchills Gran Reserva Cosecha 2009.

5ta Avenida has commissioned 10,000 individually numbered, 10-count boxes of the Punch Preferidos, which are priced at €168 ($188.41). They will also be offered in Austria and Poland, the other two countries where 5ta Avenida is the exclusive distributor of Habanos S.A. products.

The Punch Preferidos becomes the fourth Edición Regional release to wear an Exclusivo 5ta Avenida band, joining the La Gloria Cubana Glorias from 2015, the Bolívar Tesoro from 2016, and the Por Larrañaga Coronas from 2017. There have also been 11 Edición Regional releases created just for Germany as well as one for Austria

It’s the second time that the Punch marca has been selected for an Edición Regional release by 5ta Avenida, joining 2012’s Punch Sir John, though that cigar was designated as an exclusive for Germany.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
