Perdomo Cigars has confirmed that a price increase will be coming to several of their lines in the coming weeks, joining Oliva, General Cigar Co., Altadis USA and Davidoff in taking price increases.
Daniel Colón, Director of Marketing & Graphic Design for Perdomo confirmed that the company will be taking an increase of 10 – 12.5 cents per cigar on several of their lines.
The Edición de Silvio, Patriarch, ESV 2002 and Exhibición lines will not be affected by the increases, while the Fresco line will be getting a 20 cent per cigar increase. The remaining cigars in the Perdomo portfolio will all get a 25 cent per cigar increase.
The price increases comes as Perdomo looks to recoup some increased costs due to a mandatory wage increase for workers in Nicaragua. It is just the third price increase imposed by Perdomo in 19 years.
Nick Perdomo told his sales staff that the increase wouldn’t fully recoup the increased costs, but would help a bit. Perdomo told his staff that increases of 60–70 cents per cigar would be required to fully cover their increased costs.
The price increase is scheduled to go in effect on March 1, giving retailers some time to adjust their pricing while delaying the increase into a bit stronger selling season. While Perdomo has only recently confirmed the price increase, several retailers had been informed of the increases via a letter from Tabacalera Perdomo.
