December 4, 2013 (Kansas City, MO) — XIKAR, Inc. is proud to announce the production of their 1,000th Fossil Mammoth Ivory Xi3 cutter. To celebrate this milestone and to honor our military service men and women, XIKAR will auction off this collector’s item during the holiday shopping season. The auction opens today, December 4th at noon CST and will close December 20th at 5 P.M. CST. All proceeds from the auction will go to Cigars for Warriors.

The Xi3 Mammoth cutter builds on XIKAR’s long history of design, elegance and engineered performance with unique handles assembled by Scrimshaw Artist, Rick “HutcH” Hutchings. Based in Kentucky, HutcH has been working with XIKAR on producing the Xi3 Mammoth cutters since June 2002. “No two are alike. Mammoth bark is extremely unique and beautiful. The color, the grain, and the pattern of the bark are always a mystery until you start grinding into the surface. Then I see what pattern nature has made for me to showcase on the finest and most exclusive cigar cutter in the world,” said HutcH.

XIKAR has partnered up with Cigars for Warriors to support the US Troops through this cutter’s auction. Cigars for Warriors’ mission is to collect then disperse premium cigars to US Military Personnel stationed abroad. Their goal is to let the men and women of our Armed Forces enjoy well-deserved moments of reassurance and relaxation.

“XIKAR is excited to auction off the 1,000th Xi3 Mammoth cutter,” said Kurt Van Keppel, CEO and Founder of XIKAR. “We are proud we have reached number 1,000 of our most unique and precious item. I cannot think of a better way to celebrate than to auction it off to the XIKAR Nation to benefit one of our favorite charities, Cigars for Warriors,” continued Mr. Van Keppel.

Questions regarding this announcement can be directed to Kurt Van Keppel, CEO or VP of Marketing, Chris Geisert.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
