Portraits: Tony Gomez
Tony Gomez is in the family business. The younger, taller Gomez started with La Flor Dominicana a handful of years ago working as the company’s Florida sales representatives before moving to Santiago to learn the tobacco industry. The best-known fruits of that labor are Chapter One and Capitulo II, two cigars where Gomez led the blending efforts.
This portrait was taken in Addison, Texas with a Sony a7RII and a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens set to f/3.5 and 1/80 of a second. The ISO was set at 1600 and there were two sources of light: a flash triggered remotely to Gomez’s right and incandescent light coming from a street lamp. The photograph was converted from RAW in Photoshop CC 2018 and converted into black and white using custom actions.
