Ponce Cigar Co. will be available in New Zealand beginning next month.

The company has signed a distribution agreement with Canteros Limited to have its cigars sold in New Zealand. Canteros distributes dozens of non-Cuban cigar brands in the country.

Ponce is a relatively new brand, which started selling cigars in the U.S. just last month. It currently has just a single cigar, though there are plans for more. The Ponce is a 5 1/2 x 54 robusto extra size that uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over an American broadleaf binder and fillers from the Villa González, Dominican Republic; Estelí, Nicaragua; and the U.S.A. It is made at MJ Frias Cigar SRL in the Dominican Republic.

I am an editor and co-founder of halfwheel.com/Rueda Media, LLC. I previously co-founded and published TheCigarFeed, one of the two predecessors of halfwheel. I have written about the cigar industry for more than a decade, covering everything from product launches to regulation to M&A. In addition, I handle a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff here at halfwheel. I enjoy playing tennis, watching boxing, falling asleep to the Le Mans 24, wearing sweatshirts year-round and eating gyros. echte liebe.
