Plasencia 1865 has formally announced a new release that will debut this month in Qatar, the same time and place as the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Officially, this is neither a “World Cup cigar,” nor is it a Qatari exclusive. The cigar’s name in Arabic, احتفال, translates to “celebration.” As for the blend details, it will be offered in a single 6 x 52 toro that uses a sun-grown wrapper from Jalapa over filler tobaccos from Honduras and Nicaragua that have been aged for 10 years.

A total of 5,000 boxes of 10 cigars will be released, half will go to the U.S. and half will be offered to international stores. In the U.S., Ehtëfal will have an MSRP of $65 per cigar.

“With this special blend, the Plasencia family wants to celebrate that we can meet again,” said Nestor Andrés Plasencia in a press release, “Just as the roots of tobacco come together and become stronger, we too are stronger together. We wish to celebrate this momentous occasion taking place in Qatar with the Plasencia Ehtëfal.”

A launch event is scheduled for Nov. 19 in Doha, Qatar.
