Next February, Plasencia 1865 will be adding a new robusto vitola to its Alma Fuerte line.

The Alma Fuerte Robustus I is a 5 1/4 x 52 vitola that comes priced at $18.65, which is a nod to the year the company was founded, 1865, and the year that appears in the company’s formal name. It comes packaged in 10-count boxes that feature an integrated ashtray, just as with the other sizes in the Alma Fuerte and Alma del Campo lines.

Alma Fuerte debuted in 2016, a Nicaraguan puro that uses a wrapper from Jalapa, a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Condega, Estelí, Jalapa and Ometepe. All of the tobacco is grown on Plasencia’s farms, with production handled by the Plasencia Cigars S.A. factory in Nicaragua.

With the release of the Robustos I, the line will now include four sizes:

The new size is currently available for retailers to order.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
