The association of Dominican cigar makers has a new member.

PDR Cigars will be the 12th member of Procigar. The company, founded by Abe Flores, has been producing cigars since 2008, but moved to its own factory in 2011. Today, PDR Cigars claims to make 5 million cigars under its own name, as well as a long list of clients that include the likes of Gurkha, La Palina and others.

“Pro Cigar – It’s truly an honor to have PDR cigars be invited into Procigar,” said Flores in a statement provided to halfwheel. “We’ve worked really hard here to make the best cigars that we could and run a great factory. I’m very appreciative that consumers and the media have had great responses and reviews on my cigars, but Procigar is very special to me for different reasons. The factories that make up Procigar have been my mentors and people I’ve looked up. To be invited to join and be a part of such a great group of factories truly is a special honor for the PDR cigar family of brands.”

Procigar is best known for its annual festival held in February, but the organization also works in a variety of other capacity including promoting Dominican cigars globally, charitable activities in the Dominican Republic and working on legislative issues in both the Dominican Republic and other countries.
