PDR Cigars has announced that it has promoted Irving Rodriguez to the new created role of key account manager and global sales manager, a change that goes into effect immediately.

“He has worked hard to grow his territory and has been dedicated to PDR’s growth,” the company said in a press release. “We are grateful for his efforts and look forward to seeing what he does in these new positions.”

Rodriguez has been with PDR Cigars since early 2021, serving as the company’s northeastern U.S. sales representative. He will now represent PDR Cigars on the global stage, with his first stop the InterTabac 2022 Trade Show, which takes place Sept. 15-17 in Dortmund, Germany. He will then focus on servicing and growing the company’s top accounts in the U.S. as well as helping PDR grow and expand into non-U.S. markets, though will not be overseeing the company’s current U.S. sales force.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
