Last year, Dr. Stefan Lampert was one of a very limited number of Europeans in attendance at the 2021 PCA Convention & Trade Show. He was packed into a small 10′ x 10′ booth that housed Casdagli, which distributes his cigars in the U.S., and J. London.

This year, Lampert Cigars is once again one of three companies part of a booth that also includes Casdagli, though fortunately, the booth is a lot larger this year. This year, there was enough space where interviewing one of the companies didn’t require the other two to leave the booth, and more importantly, enough space where each company had a clearly defined space so that it wasn’t on top of another company.

In late June, Lampert published a half dozen or so press releases announcing all sorts of changes for the company, some of which didn’t even make it to PCA 2022. In case you missed it, there’s a new line coming from Lampert next year, but for now, it’s only sold at Small Batch Cigar.

Lampert Don Patron

Lampert has moved the Don Patron line into a 10-count box with updated packaging. It uses a two-year-old Connecticut shade wrapper over a three-year-old binder and fillers that include five-year-old pelo de oro tobaccos from Peru. This cigar is made at Tabacos de Costa Rica. As someone that went to Wake Forest, this could become a regular tailgate cigar in the fall.

  • Wrapper: Ecuador (Connecticut)
  • Binder: Ecuador
  • Filler: Dominican Republic & Peru (Pelo de Oro)
  • Lampert Don Patron (6 x 52) — $14.50 (Box of 10, $145)

Production: Regular Production

Release Date: July 2022

Lampert Golden Retailer Program 2022

Lampert has expanded its Golden Retailer program from 10 retailers to 14 stores. All of the cigars released as part of the program are aged for at least a year, the most recent batch to ship— Salomones—was rolled before the 2021 PCA Convention & Trade Show. Of note, Lampert is shipping just half of the boxes right now.

  • Wrapper: Ecuador (Habano)
  • Binder: Nicaragua
  • Filler: Nicaragua
  • Lampert Limitada Salomones 2022 (7 1/2 x 58) — $30 (Box of 10, $300)

Production: 500 Boxes of 10 Cigars (5,000 Total Cigars)

Release Date: July 2022

Lampert Family Reserve 2021

This is a new line that I’m not sure I saw on display. One interesting note, the boxes are made from okoume wood, which is the same wood Davidoff uses to line its humidors. As for the cigar, it’s made at the Kelner Boutique Factory in the Dominican Republic, which I believe is the first time the company has worked with this factory.

  • Wrapper: Ecuador (Connecticut)
  • Binder: Dominican Republic
  • Filler: Dominican Republic
  • Lampert Family Reserve 2021 (5 x 52) — $16 (Box of 10, $160)

Production: 600 Boxes of 10 Cigars (6,000 Total Cigars)

Release Date: July 2022

New Packaging

Lampert is updating its packaging to better show off the colors associated with existing lines. Somewhat confusingly, I was told the packaging is going to 10-count boxes even though the box shown off was a 20-count box. These are expected to arrive in October.
