Howard G Cigars made its debut during the 2021 PCA Convention & Trade Show, where it released four different lines, two of which included specific cigars commemorating former NFL players. The Orlando-based company was founded in 2020 by Howard Gumbs.

For this year’s show, the company has decided to not only expand on two of its lines—including new vitolas for the Leon Searcy 72 and Ike Taylor’s 10FAHKINE brands—but is also releasing two new wrapper options for the company’s other two lines, Black Moses and Magic Stick.

Howard G Cigars’s 2022 booth is the same size as last year but with a different background and layout. The company’s booth is also located closer to the main door than in 2021, making it a bit easier to find for retailers anyone looking.

This is the second vitola for the line, which celebrates the career of two-time Super Bowl Champion Ike Taylor, who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to Gumbs, it is known internally as Ike’s “breakfast stick”, due to fact that he smokes so many during the first part of the day.

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
