The 7-20-4 booth hasn’t changed much over the years, but that’s not to say things aren’t changing with the company.

Just a few days before the show it was announced that James Shaffer was hired as the company’s new sales director.

In addition to a new sales director, there is a new PCA exclusive that will ship to stores this fall. Last year, 7-20-4 announced The Hustler Five & Dime as the 2021 PCA exclusive. Delays didn’t see that cigar reaching retailers until May of this year, which was a point of frustration for owner Kurt Kendall. Though as seems to be in every interaction I’ve had with Kendall, he had a smile on his face and a positive attitude about the situation, just happy that they were ready.

7-20-4 Gran Perfecto

This year’s PCA exclusive, meaning it is only offered to retailers who placed orders in person during the trade show, is part of 7-20-4’s original line, but in a box pressed gran perfecto size.

  • Wrapper: Brazil (Mata Fina)
  • Binder: Mexico (San Andrés)
  • Filler: Dominican Republic & Nicaragua
  • 7-20-4 Gran Perfecto (6 x 54) — $14 (Box of 10, $140)

Release Date: Fall 2022

I have been smoking cigars since 2005 and reviewing them as a hobby since 2010. Initially, I started out small with a 50-count humidor and only smoking one or two cigars a month. Not knowing anybody else that smoked cigars, it was only an occasional hobby that I took part in. In March of 2010, I joined Nublive and Cigar Asylum, connecting me with many people who also shared an interest in cigars. Reading what they had to say about brands I had never heard of, I quickly immersed myself in the boutique brands of the industry and it was then that cigars transformed from a hobby into a passion.
