The Perdomo booth has been memorable for a number of years now. First, it was because of the massive drum set that Nick Perdomo Jr. would sit down and play randomly throughout the day, which could be heard across the entire show floor. Next, in 2017, it was the large LED video boards on the front of their booth and on a circular display hanging above the booth. This year is different. Much different.

That’s not to say the booth isn’t nice, it is. The layout is well-designed, to the point and it really focuses on the cigars. Many manufacturers downsized their booths this year, so I guess even seeing Perdomo downsize shouldn’t surprise me. I caught them during lunchtime, so most everybody was off to the food court to grab a bite. That worked well for me as I was able to grab some time with Ralph Valdes, national sales manager, who showed me around the booth.

Perdomo Connoisseur Collection

While there were no new cigars being debuted this year, Perdomo did release four sets of cigars they are calling the Connoisseur Collection. Each 12-cigar box features two cigars from six lines in a toro size. Three of the collections revolve around the wrapper type — Connecticut, Sun Grown and Maduro — while the fourth has a variety of all three wrappers that have received 90+ ratings from various publications. Each set will retail for $120.

I have been smoking cigars since 2005 and reviewing them as a hobby since 2010. Initially, I started out small with a 50-count humidor and only smoking one or two cigars a month. Not knowing anybody else that smoked cigars, it was only an occasional hobby that I took part in. In March of 2010, I joined Nublive and Cigar Asylum, connecting me with many people who also shared an interest in cigars. Reading what they had to say about brands I had never heard of, I quickly immersed myself in the boutique brands of the industry and it was then that cigars transformed from a hobby into a passion.
