After debuting at the 2019 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show with its first limited edition lines totaling six different cigars that featured unique blend and flavor profiles, Nova Cigars dialed things back a bit for PCA 2021. Specifically, the company showed off just one new product: an Edition Limitada that is a follow-up to a limited edition released in 2019.

Nova Cigars’ booth for PCA 2021 is not only noticeably larger than what it used at the 2019 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, but it also sports new graphics. In addition, the combination of new display cases, new carpet and a brand new overall color scheme had the booth filled with people almost every time I passed it.

Leo 11 Edition Limitada Nicaragua

This is the first cigar in Nova Cigar’s portfolio that is made in Nicaragua, and is a follow-up to the Platinum Nova Personal Reserve Leo X that was released in July 2019, which commemorated company CEO Leonor “Leo” Abzaradel’s 10 years in the cigar business. Of note: the cigars in the box are arranged with 10 sticks laying vertically and one cigar laying horizontally above them.

  • Wrapper: Ecuador (Habano)

  • Leo 11 Edition Limitada Nicaragua (6 x 54) — $20.90 (Box of 11, $230)

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
