Every time I run into a group of people from Boveda there’s always a new employee or two that I haven’t met. Such was the case during my annual stop by the Boveda booth this year. What’s normally not happening during this visit is a conversation about new items from Boveda, though this year we got to have that chat.
The Boveda booth has more or less been the same for quite some time. This year—like in 2019—Rob Gagner is set up in the back to record interviews for Boveda’s Box Pressed podcast. When I was there—and actually well after I left—Steve Zengel of Los Caidos was getting interviewed.
One other fun fact about the Boveda booth: the Box Pressed tour of the old halfwheel office is part of the video loop playing in the booth. It’s always a bit weird to see myself on a screen in someone else’s booth.
Boveda Acrylic Humidors (2021)
Due to issues with its suppliers, Boveda has updated its two Acrylic Humidors. The notable change is that the acrylic inside tray—which is removable—is now made from Spanish cedar, which the company says doesn’t need to be seasoned for the smaller size, though the larger size might need some seasoning. On the Large humidor, the lid is now flat instead of being curved like the older version. The layout, functionality, size and price points are all otherwise the same.
I am told these are actually shipping. We actually bought one to review from Boveda in May and were shipped the old model. So that review is going to take a bit longer than planned.
