General Cigar Co.’s Partagas 1845 line will be expanding next month when the company adds the stronger, Partagas 1845 Extra Fuerte. The cigar will use an Ecuadorian habano ligero and at least some Nicaraguan fillers to create a cigar that one source said would be “more full-bodied than Partagas Black.”

Pricing is said to be in the $7-8 range with the boxes largely mimicking the original Partagas 1845 packaging with one minor update. The bands are a gray-tone version of the Partagas 1845 with black accents.

An ad in Cigar Aficionado showed off the new artwork and instructed readers to head to the company’s website, which currently makes no mention of Extra Fuerte.

A source told halfwheel that top Partagas 1845 accounts will be offered launch parties for the cigar.

Update (February 26, 2014): The original version of this story indicated that Rafael Nodal of Aging Room likely leaked pictures of the Extra Fuerte, Nodal actually leaked a picture of the Partagas 1845 Extra Oscuro.
