Padilla Poética Soft Launching Next Month

After months of teasing, the Padilla Poética will debut next month.

Poética is a new project from Ernesto Padilla, being made at the AJ Fernandez factory in Nicaragua. It’s not the first time the two have worked together, though it’s been a while and unlike previous projects which were exclusives to Cigars International, the Poética will be sold to retailers nationwide.

The first Poética might be confused for a cigar called “Padilla Top Secret.” Padilla will release 900 Poética Robustos to stores on May 15, those cigars will feature a simple black on white test band with the words “Padilla Top Secret,” which is what Padilla has teased on social media while smoking the cigars.

It uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers. The full line will include three box-pressed sizes, expected to debut this July:

• Padilla Poética Robusto (5 x 52)
• Padilla Poética Toro (6 x 52)
• Padilla Poética Gordo (6 x 60)

When it comes out, the band will be far more ornate featuring lines from “El Justo Tiempo Humano,” a poem written by Humberto Padilla, Ernesto Padilla’s father.
