While Padilla Cigar Co. was started in 2003, Ernesto Padilla has marked 2016 as the time to release an anniversary cigar for the company.

The Padilla Anniversary is a Nicaraguan puro made at Raíces Cubanas. The band pays tributes to the family’s tobacco roots, which trace back to 1932 in Cuba.

The seven size line will debut at the 2016 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show. Padilla told halfwheel it will debut in: Robusto (5 x 52), Toro (6 x 52), Figurado (6 1/2 x 60), Lancero (7 x 40), Torpedo (6 1/4 x 52), Churchill (7 x 48) and Petit Corona. Expected MSRP is slated at $8-12.

While the line will be a regular production release, it will be limited to around 100 boxes, amongst all sizes, per month. Padilla indicated that in some months, the company might release only one size, while other months could be a mixture of sizes.

Padilla explained the various components of the band. It is centered around the British siege of Havana in August 1762. Padilla says the lion represents the lions in Paseo del Prado, while the trident shows Cuba’s maritime association. The sides show the El Morro castle in Cuba.

It joins two other Padilla releases for the July trade show: 1932 Oscuro and Connecticut.

The 2016 IPCPR Convention Trade Show begins July 25 in Las Vegas, Nev.
