This September, OZ Family Cigars plans to release a new limited edition for its Bosphorus line: a 6 1/2 x 56 toro gordo that it is calling the Laguito No. 6. The name is taken from the Cuban cigar industry, as the size is the same as the Cohiba BHK 56.
According to an unconfirmed report by Cigar Aficionado, the cigar will be round as opposed to getting a box press like the regular production sizes in the line, and it will also get a coiled, pigtail cap and a closed foot. The blend will remain the same, however, with an Ecuadorian habano wrapper, two binders, one an Ecuadorian Connecticut leaf and the other coming from Nicaragua, and a Nicaraguan filler. The cigars are reportedly being produced by Casa Carrillo in the Dominican Republic, with 1,500 boxes of 12 cigars said to be produced. They will come with an MSRP of $15.95 per cigar, according to the story.
Tim Ozgener of OZ Family Cigars has not responded to an e-mail seeking information and images of the new cigar, as well as to confirm the accuracy of the Cigar Aficionado story.
Update (Aug. 7, 2024) — Ozgener confirmed the accuracy of story, and eventually provided images of the cigar, which have been added to the story.
