The Bay Area city of Oakley, Calif. will take up one of the most restrictive smoking bans proposals to date. Under a new proposed law, the ordinance would ban tobacco in every outdoor area except city street and sidewalks and presumably in private residences.

It’s unclear when the City Council will formally vote on the measure.

Oakley is located in Contra County, 45 miles east of San Francisco with a population of 35,000. Earlier this year, Walnut Creek—also located in Contra County—passed a similar law banning smoking in every place except some sidewalks, golf courses and private single-family homes.
