Add Northampton to the list of places where smoking in cigar shops and bars will not be permitted in Massachusetts.

Smoking in retail tobacco shops, cigar bars, private and public clubs, parks, outdoor seating in restaurants, pools, bus stops, nursing homes, taxi cab waiting areas and within 25 feet of public buildings will be banned as of June 1.

The city’s Board of Health passed the new law last week. Violators will be fined $100 for the first offense with a second offense carrying a fine of $200 and a third running $300.

In addition, cigars priced under five dollars are no longer permitted to be sold in the city, along with blunt wraps and coupons for tobacco products.

An American Legion post is the only private club affected by the new law.

Northampton is a city of around 30,000 located in western Massachusetts.

I enjoy playing tennis, watching boxing, falling asleep to the Le Mans 24, wearing sweatshirts year-round and eating gyros. echte liebe.
