The North Dakota legislature is once again taking up a measure that would raise the minimum age to purchase tobacco to 19 in the state.

That bill, H.B. 1236, has been introduced by six legislators:

  • Rep. Pamela Anderson, D-41
  • Sen. Kyle Davidson, R-41
  • Rep. Ron Guggisberg, D-11
  • Rep. LaurieBeth Hager, D-21
  • Rep. Jon Nelson, R-14
  • Rep. Mary Schneider, D-21

Anderson, Guggisberg and Schneider co-sponsored similar legislation in 2017. That bill was defeated 68-22 by the House of Representatives.
