Nomad Adding Two New Vitolas to Core Line

Nomad Cigar Company will soon be adding a pair of new vitolas to their core line, according to company owner Fred Rewey.

The Fugitive II is a 6 x 51 Perfecto that comes with an MSRP of $198 for a box of 20, or $9.90 per cigar. The Rambler is a 5 x 50 Robusto that has an MSRP of $160 per box of 20, or $8.00 per cigar. Both use the same blend as the existing vitolas, an Ecuadoran Habano wrapper over filler and binder from the Dominican Republic.

The cigars are being made at Tabacalera L & V in Tamboril, Dominican Republic and should be shipped to the U.S. in the coming weeks with retail availability slated for February.

Rewey also said that there may be another new vitola released at the IPCPR Convention and Trade Show in July.

The addition of the Fugitive II and Rambler brings Nomad’s core line to seven vitolas:

• Drifter – 6 x 60
• Renegade – 5 1/2 x 54 Robusto Gordo
• Vagabond – 4 5/8 x 54 Figurado
• Navigator – 6 x 52 Torpedo
• Fugitive – 5 7/8 x 64 Figurado
• Fugitive II – 6 x 51 Perfecto
• Rambler – 5 x 50 Robusto

With the additions, the Renegade vitola was reclassified as a Robusto Gordo, as it had been previously identified as a Robusto. The Nomad Renegade was reviewed on halfwheel in April 2012. Nomad’s core line debuted in March 2012.

In early January 2013 it was announced that Rewey had entered into a distribution agreement with Gary Griffith’s Emilio cigars.
