At this year’s IPCPR Convention and Trade Show, XIKAR announced that they were going to spread their new releases out throughout the year more than in past years, and they recently announced their first new releases since the industry’s annual gathering.

For their Scribe pipe lighter, the company has added a classic Burl finish and a modern G2 finish. Designed to look like a pen, the, Scribe lighter features a pull-apart action that begins the flow of butane, while a flint ignition system at one end provides the spark for an angled candle flame. Both finishes sell for $39.99 via the XIKAR website and retailers, and can be inscribed with a customized message when ordered directly from the company.

The company has also announced the release of a new Outdoorsmen Gift Pack that features a blaze orange travel case and a hunter green Stratosphere lighter. The lighter debuted in May 2011 and is a single flame torch designed for use at high elevations. It features a protective rubber body and lanyard for added durability. It is only available through retail stores and sells for $39.99, which saves about $16 over purchasing the two items separately.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
