Viaje Announces Zombie Super Shot

Viaje announced a new hybrid project that combines the blend notes of their Zombie line with the format of their Super Shot line for the Viaje Zombie Super Shot, what Andre Farkas is calling “a mashup.”

The release, which was first mentioned on CigarAficionado.com, comes in a 3 1/2 x 54 ring gauge vitola that will be packed in 25-count boxes that feature a ghoulish zombie figure and a different color scheme than the rest of the Super Shot line. It is said to retail for $7 per cigar and should be arriving at retail by May.

The Viaje Zombie Super Shot uses a Criollo ’98 wrapper but further specifics on the blend were not released. The 2012 Viaje Zombie was a Nicaraguan puro, while the company announced back in January that the 2013 edition of the Super Shot line would be adding a Criollo wrapper.

Farkas told the magazine that the backstory for the cigar is that the powerful smoke from his previous releases “has turned much of the population into flesh eating zombies” and that this cigar is the “dramatic answer” to the situation.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. I previously covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
