Nat Sherman will be adding a new line this summer called the 1930, with plans to have it available before the IPCPR Convention and Trade Show in early July.

Michael Herklots, the Executive Director Retail and Brand Development for Nat Sherman, shared the announcement in an exclusive to halfwheel during the Tobacco Plus Expo in Las Vegas on Thursday. Many aspects of the cigar are still being decided, including pricing, packaging and available sizes, but the cigar is being made at MATASA, the Quesada-owned factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic.

MATASA is the factory that produces one line in the Nat Sherman Timeless collection, and Herklots described it as “being around family” when he visits the factory.

The name of the cigar is a nod to the year that Nat Sherman was founded in New York City. Herklots provided an unbanded sample of the cigar at the TPE show but declined to disclose information about the blend. He did say that it will be disclosed closer to the cigar’s release date.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
