La Flor Dominicana has released an exclusive blend for New York-based Tobacco Plaza. The cigar, which is named the La Flor Dominicana TP Triple Threat, gets its name from the fact that it includes three leaves of ligero tobacco and three leaves of maduro tobacco.
The 6 1/2 x 52 Toro retails for $16.99 each or $134.95 for a box of 10 and limited to 75 boxes. It was launched at a dinner attended by La Flor Dominicana’s Litto Gomez on October 18.
Danny Ditkowich of Tobacco Plaza explained how he got the idea behind the blend on the store’s website:
The blend is the brain child of our own Danny D based on a dream he had several months ago. It had been a particularly warm evening and Danny awoke with a start early the next morning shouting the words “Triple Threat!” Later that day, he relayed the story to yours truly and went on to speak with Litto about creating a TP Exclusive which would combine triple ligero and triple maduro tobaccos in one rich, full-bodied smoke! Intrigued, Litto crafted the LFD TP Triple Threat which was unveiled at our Cigar Dinner at the Carltun.
Tobacco Plaza has had a string of exclusive blends made in the past two years to celebrate the store’s 40th anniversary including the Tatuaje Tobacco Plaza DD, the Padrón 1926 Serie TP40 named in honor of Marshall Holman, a co-owner of the store, and the Quesada TP40Q.
According to Ditkowich, less than 50 boxes remain for sale through the store’s website.
