La Flor Dominicana’s portfolio is slimming down quite a bit. Over the past few weeks, the company has informed retailers that over 30 SKUs will be discontinued including Coronado and almost the entirety of the 2000 series.
The limited Coronado by La Flor was a medium cigar launched at the 2006 RTDA trade show. There were five original sizes with the company creating single store releases and maduro versions of the cigar through the years. At least one retailer told halfwheel they were told the company may bring back Coronado at some point, but as of now it is discontinued.
Like Coronado, the rest of the major reductions are to lines that do not fall into the fuller range La Flor Dominicana has become known for of late.
While not entirely discontinued, the La Flor Dominicana 2000 will have eight sizes removed, leaving only the 4 5/8 x 40 No. 3. In addition, the company’s milder Suave line be reduced from seven to three sizes with the Alcade, Demitasse, Grand Maduro No. 5 and Macheteros being discontinued. Reserva Especial will lose the Belicoso, Churchill, Figurado and Robusto sizes.
Elsewhere, the LFD Ligero will lose the L250 and Torpedo sizes, Double Ligero loses the Chisel Gorda and Churchill Natural and the Air Bender Villano and Perfecto have been removed from the Air Bender Habano line.
In addition to core line reductions, the limited edition Cameroon Cabinet Lancero, Diadema Duo and the company’s Culebras have also been discontinued.
Samplers weren’t exempt either; the Los Perfectos, OYA Maduro and OYA Natural samplers are also being discontinued.
Alongside the reductions, the company is also changing the packaging count on the Cameroon Cabinet Chisel from 20 to 24.
