For at least another year, attendees of the annual Inter-tabac trade show will be allowed to smoke in the convention hall. Inter-tabac 2013 will once again take place during mid-September in Dortmund, Germany at the Westfalenhall. Unlike recent years of the IPCPR trade show and convention, the Westfalenhall hosts many event simultaneously, as it is a multi-event space.

According to a report from Cigar Journal, smoking will once again be allowed. The magazine quotes a statement from Dr. Andreas Weber that reads:

The Westfalenhallen is what is known as a multifunctional events centre. This allows us to regulate the ban on smoking according to the type of event. Taking into account the fact that Inter-tabac is open only to adult trade visitors, there is basically no ban on smoking in halls 4, 6, 7 and 8 – and hence at the stands – during the trade fair. This ensures that the event retains its character as a specialist trade fair.

Concerns arose after the passing of the Nichtraucherschutzgesetzes des deutschen Bundeslandes Nordrhein-Westfalen, a smoking law in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, where Dortmund is lcoated.

While IPCPR dwarfs its European counterpart as far as new cigar releases, Inter-tabac still draws a host of cigar makers. Last year principals from Drew Estate, La Flor Dominicana, Miami Cigar & Co., My Father, Oliva, Padrón, Perdomo, Tatuaje and others were in attendance.
